Featured Quilt - First Place Abstract at Houston 2022

New Year's Eve by Judith Beaver won First Place in the Abstract category at 2022 Houston International Quilt Festival. The title of Judith's quilt does not refer to idea of New Year's Eve in general, but celebrating it in one place in particular. She says, "New Year’s Eve in Hawaii is an incredible experience. All night long, the air is filled with overhead aerials bursting into magnificent colors, and the smoke from firecrackers is thick in the air. All the neighbors are out in the street toasting one another and the new year. The next morning, all is silent, but the streets are littered with red paper left from the exploded firecrackers."

Alex LIVE: The Photographer's Quilt Favorites from Houston 2022

Quilts From a Photographer's Eye View

Justin Shults took 1000 pictures for TheQuiltShow.com at the Houston Quilt Show 2022. We wanted his choices for quilts that really stopped him in his tracks. We weren't after just the big winners, but ones that he found himself staring at. Justin shows us eight quilts and tells us what he loved about them.

Alex is LIVE TODAY, November 16, 2022 @ 10am PST, 1pm EST, and 6pm London time. All classes are recorded so they can be viewed later.

A Look at the 2022 Yokohama Quilt Show

Patricia Belyea of Okan Arts is Sharing the Yokohama Quilt Show

Patricia is going to be a guest next year on The Quilt Show. Her experience in quilting has dealt mainly with the Japanese side of things and has herself visited the Tokyo Quilt Show. With there no longer being a Tokyo Quilt Show, the Yokohama Quilt Show has sprung up and taken its place and one of the members of Patricia's Okan Arts team, Victoria Stone, took the trip to Yokohama, Japan to check it out.

You can watch Patricia in Working with Yakuta Fabric and Designer Facings with Patricia Belyea | Quilt Care and Storage with Lisa Erlandson, when her show debuts next year.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: You'll Go Nuts For This Quilt

"Mixed Nuts" by Nina McVeigh

Nina calls Mixed Nuts her "nuts and bolts" quilt, a very apropos title, and created it for an appearance on the Fons & Porter show. We love the modern look and simplicity of the design.
