Featured Quilt - The Janome Master Award for Innovative Artistry at Houston 2022

Born to Be Wild by Susan de Vanny won The Janome Master Award for Innovative Artistry at the 2022 Houston International Quilt Festival. Susan made this beautiful machine appliquéd and wonderfully thread painted quilt because of her love of its subject matter. She says, "Wild dogs or painted wolves are my favorite animals out of Africa. Here, three young pups are walking ahead of the adult dog in the background in a landscape of a changing environment. Diminishing in numbers rapidly from disease, it is crucial to look after the numbers before they reach a crisis point, like so many African animals. The webbed holes represent climate change and the effects it has on nature’s wonderful creatures."

Help Find This Missing Quilt

The Quilt Went Missing After the 2022 Festival of Quilts in Birmingham

Sachiko Chiba's quilt, Flower Festival, has recently gone missing. If you have any information, please contact Sachiko via her Facebook page.

Here's what Sachiko had to say about her missing quilt:

It was last shown at the 2022 Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, where it won first prize in Traditional Quilts. After the show, it was packed and crated with the other winners and kept in storage for 7 weeks until The Knitting and Stitching Show, held in London. When it came time to hang the quilts, my quilt was missing.

The management of Festival of Quilts is devastated by this loss. They have searched for the quilt, and have had all the companies that came in contact search for the quilt. It has not been found. Please help me bring it home. Thank you - Sachiko Chiba
