Featured Quilt - Viewer's Choice at PIQF 2021

Fleur De Leapfrog by Lys Axelson won Viewer's Choice at PIQF 2021. Lys says she made the quilt because, really, she just loves frogs. "Everything about frogs and toads make me happy. Their color, funny little legs, big giant eyes, the way they hop, swim and sing." With whimsical Hand Appliqué and Machine Quilting, it's easy to see why Lys' quilt was in the Innovative category at PIQF. It's as if the frogs are leaping right out at you, oh wait, they actually are!
Quilt Stories with Susie Monday
See How A Fabulous Quilt is Designed Using An iPad

Lisa Walton (Show 2503), textile artist and past President of SAQA, talks to Susie Monday about her quilt, Our Lady of the Agave, and how she makes unique art using an iPad to create original fabrics and collages. It's all here in another immersive episode of Quilt Stories.

And don't miss out, because Susie will be explaining these concepts even more, and you'll see this quilt in detail, as a guest on The Quilt Show next month in Learn the Sensory Alphabet and How to Use Your iPad for Fabric Design with Susie Monday | Quick Marking for Machine Quilting with Ricky Tims.

The Dior Autumn-Winter 2021-2022 Haute Couture Show
Look at the Amazing Backdrop...Oh, and the Clothes...

Take your front-row seat to watch the unveiling of the Dior Autumn-Winter 2021-2022 Haute Couture collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri live from Paris. While the clothes are always interesting and beautifully made, we were fascinated by the backdrop of the show. Was it quilted? Was it embroidered? After taking a closer look, we believe it was entirely embroidered...but we could be wrong. Take a look.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Star Full of Color and Value
"Designer Star" by Lee Chappell Monroe

Designer Star is Lee's very first pattern, and was made with bright, bright colors and Kaffe Fassett fabric. It was actually designed because after Lee taught her first class on choosing fabric her students wanted to know what her next class was and she didn't have one. So, she made Designer Star for her second class as a pattern for people to play with light and color when making it. Lee says, "The Designer Star was originally designed for a bundle of fabric I received from designer Laurie Wisburn."

See more of Lee's quilts in How to Make a Color Wheel Quilt, Perfect Piecing, and Heirloom Looks by Machine with Lee Chappell Monroe.

See Whole New Worlds

One of the most exciting things about being a member of The Quilt Show is being exposed to a variety of new concepts and techniques from our wonderful teachers from all over. With each show you're getting a new teacher, a new concept, and a whole new way to view quilting that you might never have been exposed to.

So sit down, get comfortable, and get ready to see the quilt world from another perspective.

It's not called The Quilt "Show" for nothing!
