Featured Quilt - The Superior Threads Master Award For Thread Artistry at Houston 22

Dear Humans... by Sue Sherman won The Superior Threads Master Award For Thread Artistry at the 2022 Houston International Quilt Festival. Sue's inspiration for the quilt is both a message and a statement about protecting our environment and those that live in it. She says, "The animals are sending a message to humans, offering their opinion about the state of things. If you look closely, you can see where the humans have filled the sky with their empty talk about addressing habitat loss and climate change, but don’t do enough to help. Wholecloth cotton painted with thickened dyes."

And don't miss the video of Sue talking about her quilt with Bob Ruggiero from Quilt Festival by clicking the Quilt Video tab. It's a great watch where Sue discusses her quilting journey and work on Dear Humans....

You're almost there, and Barbara Black is here to help get you across the finish line. Barbara has got her tips for Months 11 and 12 of Irene Blanck's Garden Party Down Under, The Quilt Show's 2022 Block Of the Month, ready for you. And Don't Forget To Label Your Quilt When It's Finished!
A Little Bit of Label Love

As part of our downloads for Month 12 of the Block Of the Month, we are including an optional label for you to attach to your quilt. We always strongly recommend labeling your quilts as a way of preserving their history or in case anything should happen to them. Plus, it will always remind you when and where you were when you finished that quilt!
Quilters' Save Our Stories with Ted Storm van Weelden
Talking with Ted

This week's subject for the Quilters' Save Our Stories (QSOS) program from the Quilt Alliance is a master of quilting, Ted Storm van Weelden. Her quilt, Nocturnal Garden, was named a Masterpiece quilt in 2006 and is the work she is discussing here with Jana Hawley as part of her story, along with "her background as a textile teacher and her desire to know more about quilting."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Pretty Pictures of Peonies
"Pink Peony" by Ana Buzzalino

Pink Peony is one of Ana's new quilts that she is very excited about. When Ana and her friend went to a peony farm outside of Calgary this past summer, she was completely inspired and took many photos. With the farm only open two weekends out of the year, the peonies were fully in bloom and perfect to capture. After her trip to the farm, Ana brought home not only enough photos to create this beautiful quilt, but twelve to fourteen different peony stems as well to grow her own.
