Featured Quilt - Quilt Path by APQS Judge’s Recognition Award at AQS Quiltweek Paducah 2023

African Crazy Play by Ann Horton received the Quilt Path by APQS Judge’s Recognition Award at AQS Quiltweek Paducah 2023. She was chosen to receive the award by AQS judge, and former guest of The Quilt Show, Cindy Seitz-Krug.

Here's what AQS had to saw about the award, and why Cindy picked Ann's quilt to get it: "At AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah, each judge selects a special quilt that speaks to them in some way. This year, AQS Judge Cindy Seitz-Krug selected AFRICAN CRAZY PLAY by Ann Horton to receive the Quilt Path by APQS Judge’s Recognition Award.

Cindy selected Ann's quilt for her colored fabric choices and their placement. She felt they were exceptionally well handled. The combination of circular and irregular shapes makes the quilt visually intriguing while the variety in scale creates wonderful unity. The hand stitching in each shape gives the piece fabulous texture. The composition of the quilt is finished off beautifully with the golden side and top borders."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: An Explosion of Rainbow Color

"BOOM!" by Scott Hansen

During his time rooming with Rob Appell when they were teaching in Sisters, OR, Scott drew out the oval design for BOOM! while they were listening to Pink Floyd. Once he got home, he took a look at his design and decided it would make a cool rainbow quilt. And even though color is Scott's thing, rainbow quilts by order of color aren't, with him preferring to have the colors scattered about. However, Scott feels that BOOM! worked out incredibly well as a rainbow quilt.
