Featured Quilt - Happy (Very Early) Thanksgiving

Believe it or not, we're almost halfway to Thanksgiving. That didn't stop Aki Sakai from celebrating early though, but she might be celebrating for different reasons. Her quilt, Happy Thanksgiving, won the Coats & Clark Best Wall Hand Workmanship Award at AQS Quiltweek 2022 in Paducah. Like all our previously featured Paducah winners this week, Happy Thanksgiving has won more than one award, taking home First Place in the Appliqué category at Houston 2021.

No Need To Jump Through Hoops Here (But You May Need One)

The beauty of our Masterclasses is we can bring so many teachers together for quick and informative bursts of quilting knowledge. In our second Handwork Masterclass, Amy McClellan is the teacher on deck and she demonstrates how she creates her reverse chain stitch in a hoop.

Learn from Amy, and the other Handwork Masters, by watching How to Do Handwork | Handwork Masterclass Part 2 - All About Stitches from Basic to Fancy.
Alex LIVE: Neutral Blooms Class 05
Learn Finished Machine Appliqué (And About Crocheted Chairs?)

Alex shows on her sewing machine the stitch, the stitch lengths, and the foot to demonstrate her finished machine appliqué. Plus, Alex got swept away by crocheted chairs she saw in a store in Mendicino, California. Alex learned to crochet in college and was excited about these chairs. See why.

Alex is LIVE TODAY Wednesday, May 4, 2022 @ 10am PST, 1pm EST, and 6pm London time. All classes are recorded so they can be viewed later.
Textile Talks: QSOS Interview with Karen Nyberg
Straight From Outer Space (But Really She's Back On Earth)

In Monday's Newsletter, we featured the brand new Earth Views fabric line from retired astronaut Karen Nyberg. Get to know Karen, the artist, mathematician, and astronaut extraordinaire, a little more from her Quilters Save Our Stories (QSOS) Interview with Chawne Kimber.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Friendly Face For the Camera
"Bucky" By Michelle Jackson

In Bucky, Michelle shows you what can happen when you meet a camera-ready friend at the zoo. The quilt measures 47.5" x 43", but Bucky himself is much taller. It is made from 100% cotton fabrics and is fused appliqué and machine quilted. The quilt was completed in 2010.
