Learn More About the Work of Diana Baumbach

In this week's Textile Talk, meet artist Diana Baumbach who "uses materials such as paper made from her children’s worn clothing, fragments of her mother’s wedding dress, and flax gathered and processed with her children. She is fascinated by transforming materials and the rich histories embedded in fibers. Her work relies on slow, repetitive processes. These processes can calm the nervous system and self-soothe."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Ravens "Dancing" on the Wind

"Dancing With The Chinook" by Linda Beach

Dancing With The Chinook features two ravens flying among the Chinook Winds, which are huge and heavy warm winds that come in during the winter time. Living in Alaska for several years, Linda noticed that there were a lot of ravens up there in the winter, and noted how fun they were to watch due to their playful nature and intelligence. The ravens would go up into the winds and play, do acrobatics, and chase each other, which then became the inspiration for Linda's quilt.
