Featured Quilt - First Place Small Wall Quilts: Movable Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2024
Ocean of Blue by Heidi Proffetty won First Place - Small Wall Quilts: Movable Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2024 and was also on display at the 2023 Houston International Quilt Festival. Made in her trademark mosaic quilting style, Heidi says it was her simple and beautiful love of the calming ocean that inspired the quilt. "Whether I am in my favorite seat on the sand gazing out at the ocean of blue or sailing on top of its gentle, glistening waves, I am content. The sea muffles the voices of many and sings lullabies until I close my eyes. The sun warms my body like no blanket could ever do. The salty mist hits my face, and my eyes open to witness the
brilliant white sheets wrapping up the winds. I am happiest when I am with the blue."

Keeping Cool During The "Dog Days of Summer"
Summer is almost here, and that means the heat is coming. While we as humans can wear hats and t-shirts to keep cool in the sweltering sun, it's a little bit harder for our four-legged furry friends. So, Corinne Sovey at WeAllSew has come up with a simple and sweet Dog Cooling Bandana that your pet can wear out and about. "The bandana is filled with polyacrylamide crystals (water storing crystals), which will help keep your dog cool after being soaked in cold water."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Beginning With "Bling"
"Bling" by Christa Watson
Christa feels that her quilt Bling would make a good quilt for a beginning quilter to practice their machine quilting. The only quilting she did for it was to quilt simple straight lines in two directions across the quilt. Bling was another experiment for Christa, as she quilted with a high-contrasting bright pink thread to give it an extra pop of color and quilted the lines simply following the outlines of the blocks.
