Featured Quilt - First Place Hand Quilted Quilts at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2024
Poco A Poco by Keiko Morihiro First Place - Hand Quilted Quilts (Sponsored by Arrow Sewing) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2024. The title of Keiko's quilt translates to "little by little", which is very fitting when you consider all the small individual pieces that she hand quilted together to win this award. Every single piece combines to create a hand quilted beauty of an image that can be seen from afar, but you'll have to stand back more than you would for your average quilt as this one is 86" x 100" in size.
(You really need to see this one, there are a lot of pieces.)

"Grifology #1" by Debbie Grifka
Debbie writes of her quilt, Grifology #1, "Languages have always fascinated me. Inspired by my 2018 100 Day Project (improv appliqué postcards in black and white) and comments that those pieces looked like hieroglyphics or a secret language, I continued my exploration and made 20 improv bias appliqué blocks. Extending the language idea, I positioned the blocks in a letter format in the order in which they were made. The name, Grifology, is a play on graphology, the study of handwriting and symbols, and my own last name."
