Featured Quilt - First Place Wall Quilts: Stationary Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2024

Blooming Midsummer Flowers by Noriko Nozawa won First Place - Wall Quilts: Stationary Machine Quilted (Sponsored by Baby Lock USA presented by Calico Country Sew & Vac) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2024. Noriko made her beautiful flowers bloom through a combination of machine appliqué, digitized embroidery, and free-motion quilting. Don't forget to check out the border of the quilt which is also a wonderful work unto itself, featuring a collection of squares that surround the quilt and in each square is it own collection of creatively quilted flowers.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Persistence" Pays Off

"Persistence" by Barbara Black

Persistence is a very early quilt from Barbara Black that was influenced by Jinny Beyer's award-winning quilt, Ray of Light, which won the Good Housekeeping and U.S. Historical Society contest, “The Great American Quilt”, in 1976. Aptly named because she started it in 1990 and did not finish it until 2003, Barbara took it upon herself to hand piece the center mariner's compass and use her own marble-dyed fabrics.
