Featured Quilt - First Place Hexagon Challenge at Quiltcon 2022

Nest by Colleen Butler won First Place in the Hexagon Challenge at Quiltcon 2022. Colleen says, "My quilt contains 14 hexagons of differing sizes which are 'nested' one into the other. Each hexagon is offset by a third which creates a spiral which moves inwards or outwards depending on how one looks at it. Ombré fabric and stripes of varying widths were used to differentiate between the layers and create movement." Soft and Cuddly Materials For Your Next Project

Riane Elise shares the materials and tools that help to create a hand quilted look. Combining fabrics that are a blend of cotton and linen with wool batting (which are easy to hand quilt) the resulting quilts are soft and cuddly. Riane then shows a trick for avoiding Sashiko thread tangles and how to prep and mark a quilt top for french knot ties.
