Featured Quilt - Best Wall Quilt Award at 2024 AQS QuiltWeek Branson

Automne by Colette Dumont won the Best Wall Quilt Award at 2024 AQS QuiltWeek - Branson. Automne is another of Colette's stunning, intricately planned, and masterfully put together quilts featuring beading and cut outs. She is known for and loves using thousands of seed beads and crystals in her quilts, and this one is certainly no exception. In addition to winning this most recent award, Automne also won Second Place in the Wall Quilts – Stationary Machine Quilted category at this year's AQS QuiltWeek in Daytona Beach. Take a look at this marvelous quilt that will make you feel the Autumn air and leaves falling around you even though Spring has only just begun.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Designs as Tall as Skyscrapers

"Room 2913" by Cathy Perlmutter

Room 2913 is the first quilt Cathy made after a long trip to New York where she was looking at the buildings like an artist rather than as a resident or a tourist. Cathy learned a lot for making this quilt, including one thing she did that might have been a mistake but might have ended up working out for her, which was making the buildings really big. On the one hand she used all of her finest fabrics in creating it, but the result of that is when people go up to see it they just say "woah" and are impressed by its grandeur (72" x 93"). It provides an experience similar to walking out of the subway in New York City and looking up to see the gigantic buildings towering over them, something that Cathy just loves when seeing the quilt.
