Featured Quilt - Second Place Small Quilts at QuiltCon 2023
Exploring the Cosmos: Space Junk by Nancy Powell won Second Place in the Small Quilts category at QuiltCon 2023. You don't need a spaceship to see this out-of-this-world quilt that Nancy made, because this small and mighty quilt packs a punch when you see it's vibrant and colorful fabrics.
She says, "Imagine seeing some space junk floating in the cosmos with the satellites. This is my vision. Space Junk was improv pieced and matchstick quilted with some big stitch quilted accents. There is a little nod to my grandma who taught me how to sew and create. Maybe you made some fringed napkins with your grandma too. Look carefully! This quilt
was inspired by Maria Shell's polka dots and originally made for the 2022 Kona Color of the Year (Cosmos) Mini Quilt Challenge for my local guild."
