Gaze On and Appreciate "Blue Gratitude"

We're not just thankful for all the prizes and pizazz here on International Quilting Weekend, we're also grateful for all the quilts that we get to celebrate. One such quilt being Jennifer Broemel's Blue Gratitude, which was awarded Meghan Fernandes' Judges Choice at Quiltcon 2022.

Artist Statement: "This piece is included in my Rhythm series. Each piece in the series is an exploration of process, color, pattern and movement. I am allowing instinct to guide me to experiment with layers of colored cloths that I have readily available. I am allowing myself time, time to take them, to transform them, through movement and pattern, mine and eventually the viewers, to become, continually, something new. I am seeing each in a new way as I place an additional layer, an embroidered pattern, that adds an additional rhythm to the piece creating a dance of color and light."

A Wonderful Field Trip and a Great Teacher Wrapped Up in One Show!

And, not to be out done by a spectacular visit to the Texas Quilt Museum, Tommy Romano is back on The Quilt Show to demonstrate for Alex and Ricky how to make two simple quilts for beginning quilters. First up, the Jelly Bean quilt by Terri Petasek. A striking beginner’s quilt made from a single jelly roll. Then inspired by one of your favorite puzzles, Sudoku, Tommy takes the nine-patch to another level.
