Featured Quilt - 2024 Dallas Quilt Show Best of Show
The Crossing by Linda Roy of Knoxville, TN is a multi-award winning quilt having won awards in Paducah, Daytona, and now Best of Show at the 2024 Dallas Quilt Show. Originally inspired by antique appliqué pomegranate quilts, the colors were chosen to compliment her sister's home. Unfortunately her sister did not see it to completion.
Linda's quilt is a stunning appliqué quilt and the addition of embroidery, stippling, and "upside down" stuffed yo-yos make this quilt a true stunner.

Cathy Perlmutter Builds Cities In Our Latest Show

Become a Quilting Architect
Cathy Perlmutter shares how to build an improv building based on a ladder design that is cut to shape with a wedge ruler. Using photos for inspiration she shows how to add variety with stairs, windows, a "wedding cake" house, and off-set buildings for a more interesting cityscape. Buildings are individually finished with a turned edge allowing her the fun of moving them around on the background before appliquéing in place with monofilament thread.
Learn from Cathy by watching her in Learn Improv Log Cabin Triangle Piecing, Cityscapes, and Judaic Quilting with Cathy Perlmutter.

Learn About Textile Reuse
Presented by the International Quilt Museum: "Join the International Quilt Museum for a panel discussion featuring Sarah Walcott, IQM Collections Manager, and Jamie Swartz, IQM Collections Assistant, in conversation with Addison Henshaw, Tucker Smith, and Milo Hintz, students at the Arts and Humanities Focus Program in Lincoln, Nebraska. Walcott and Swartz co-curated the exhibition “Feed Sacks: An American Fairy Tale.” Henshaw, Smith, and Hintz are featured artists in the companion exhibition “Past Manifest.” Both exhibitions are on display at the International Quilt Museum through July 27.
The panel will discuss the historic and contemporary relevance of textile reuse in pragmatic and artistic practice. The students will offer insights into their creative processes and share their experiences with sustainability and environmental consciousness."
