Featured Quilt - Not The Destination, But The Journey

Lahala Phelps spent each day for four years on her quilt, Joy In The Journey, and loved every minute of it. Lahala's quilt won Best Hand Workmanship - Traditional at the 2021 Virtual Spring Quilt Festival and was featured in the Appliqué, Large category at Houston 2019. Inspired by Fraktur folk art by the Pennsylvania Dutch, the quilt was a culmination of hard work and determination that paid off.

"Starry Beginnings" by Gale Carson

Starry Beginnings represents a hill tribe couple getting married, with the outfits depicted being the same kind of clothes this couple would have been married in. Gale has broken down the background and quilting into distinct sections to represent the surroundings of the marriage. The yellows are the sun, the dark blues are mountains, the other blues are the clouds, and the area where they stand is the crops growing.
