Featured Quilt - Honorable Mention Group Quilts at Paducah 2023
This quilt holds a place near and dear to someone very special here at The Quilt Show, and that's because they are one of the creators of it! The Lizzy Albright Quilt by Ricky Tims and Friends took home an Honorable Mention in the Group Quilts category (Sponsored by the Grace Company) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023. The quilt is based on the Granny's 1930 Sampler pattern, from the Lizzy Albright collection, by Ricky and inspired by his book and the character of Lizzy that he wrote with Kat Bowser.
Learn more about this quilt and all things Lizzy Albright right here at The Quilt Show by watching Ricky and Kat in Learn an Innovative Approach to Patchwork with Ricky Tims | Antique Quilts with Mary and Joe Koval.
And if you want to make the quilt yourself, you can get the pattern from The
Quilt Show store.

Textile Talks: Thomas Knauer - Letters, Numbers, Words, and Sentences
Texting
In A Whole New Way
You may have seen some of Thomas Knauer's quilts at shows before. They stand out because they feature numbers, barcodes, and all manner of things that you wouldn't necessarily expect to be on a quilt. This week's Textile Talk is just about those eccentricities featured and more. It "will explore some implications and possibilities of placing text on quilts" and "examine what it means to speak/write through the medium of quiltmaking and how words on quilts create voices unique to quilting, distinct from other more typical materials."
Register today and watch when this episode airs this Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 2 PM EDT.

"Gauge" Your Sewing Skills
We brought this tiny tool into the store because we kept hearing people say, "I love this tool - I keep it right by my sewing machine and I use it ALL the time!" We love the Sewing Gauge by Sew Mate too, and think everyone should have one.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Story Time with Sharon
"Once Upon a Time" by Sharon Schamber
Once Upon a
Time was one of Sharon's oldest UFOs and is entirely hand appliquéd and hand embroidered. Starting it the first year she began quilting, Sharon only finished over ten years later when her good friend Tom Russell came over, had her get it out of the box it'd been in, and made her sit there and finish the hand appliqué and hand embroidery that she hated to do but that he loved. It ended up winning Best of Show at Road to California 2014 and many other awards afterward.
See more of Sharon's quilts in How to Do Applique and Fusible Binding with Sharon Schamber | Embroidery Stitches with Tom Russell.
