Featured Quilt - Look To The Stars For Inspiration

When you want to try a new technique, or use some fabric you've never used before, it might be best to try it out in a traditional pattern to give you some idea of what you are trying to achieve as you stray into new territory. Joanne M Dickie did this with her quilt, Mother Nature's Star, which won Honorable Mention - Traditional at the 2021 Virtual Spring Quilt Festival. Joanne says, "This glacial star pattern allowed me to challenge myself not only to try paper piecing, but to work in batiks for the first time. I tried to select colors that reflected a celebration of nature and my love of the outdoors."
