Featured Quilt - A Beautiful Tribute For a Friend

Memories From Hotel Fahey by Ruth Ohol won Second Place - Large Quilts: Stationary Machine Quilted (Sponsored by Husqvarna Viking) at AQS Quiltweek 2022 in Paducah. Ruth made the quilt as a memorial for her friend, Margaret Fahey, who hosted Ruth many times at her home. She stayed there so often that, as Ruth says, the guest room was called "My Room" and she called Margaret's home the "Hotel Fahey". The quilt was strip pieced, and all of the machine quilting designs were hand drawn by Ruth.

And don't forget to click the Quilt Video tab and watch Tamara Hanes talk with Ruth on the floor of AQS Quiltweek 2022 about her quilt after she won her award.

Don't Forget The After Set

Sometimes on The Quilt Show we feature an After Set. This comes after the credits have finished rolling and cover a fun hobby or topic that our guest is interested in. In our latest show, Heather Black shares how she went panning for gold in Alaska during a family vacation. It’s a hobby that she continues whenever she is traveling, and here she shares some of her finds of gold and other minerals with Alex and Ricky.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Fusion of Styles Comes Together
"Tribal Fusion" by Sherry Rogers-Harrison

Tribal Fusion was inspired from a drawing done in Sherry's creative design course by Tom Russell. This piece is the first of Sherry's "tratempory" quilts and is a fusion of Tom's contemporary flair combined with Sherry's love for tradition. Here is what Sherry has to say about the quilt: "This quilt is the result of a design collaboration between myself and the talented Tom Russell. The quilt took approx. 500 hours to design, draw onto fabric, quilt and finally add the color. I used 21 Sakura gel pens and 12 Sakura black markers to complete the inking."

See more of Sherry's quilts in How to Make a Whole Cloth Quilt that Looks Like Applique | Curved Log Cabin Quilt Blocks.
