Featured Quilt - Appearances Can Be Deceiving
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and sometimes that picture doesn't even turn out to be what you thought it was. It could be said that Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry (Show 1308) is guilty of this tactic as she manipulated a photograph she took into something completely different than its original subject. Her quilt, Deception Decomposition #2, won 2nd Place - Wall Quilt at the 2021 Spring Quilt Festival. Caryl says, "The image for Deception Decomposition #2 was cropped from one of these photos. It was reshaped, recolored, digitally painted, and digitally printed on cotton fabric, then quilted almost to the level of machine embroidery."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Circles Turning into Hexies?
"Hexie Coming Full Circle" by Sarah Bond
Created as a part of Sarah's Coming Full Circle class, which focuses on classic quilt elements, Hexie Coming Full Circle contains traditional quilt blocks like the circle, string fan, checkerboard circles, and swirly curved piecing. Once they've made their circles, Sarah has designed the class to allow the student to choose how they want to set them in their quilt. If they want to square set their circles they can, or they can set them in hexies like Sarah did in her version.
