Featured Quilt - Third Place Large Quilts: Movable Machine Quilted at Paducah 2023
Auntie Tess by Patty Nelson won Third Place - Large Quilts: Movable Machine Quilted (Sponsored by ABM International) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023. This is the first quilt that Patty entered into an AQS Quilt Show.
Based on the Auntie Tess pattern by Corliss Searcey, the inspiration for the quilt came from Patty searching for an "Oh Wow" quilt, one that is different from others and striking, which this pattern was to her.
To learn more about Patty's quilt and its story, click the Quilt Video tab and watch a video of her discussing it with Kathy Buri on the floor of AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Making A Difference
"A World of Difference" by Mary Pal
A World of Difference is
Mary's tribute to Sir David Attenborough. Attenborough has put out many documentaries about his concerns about what is happening to the Earth, and Mary wanted to make a piece that would reflect those concerns, hence the Earth background, but also pay homage to the man himself because of his beautiful face which she wanted to reproduce in cheesecloth. Mary says that Attenborough, "suggests ways each of us can make "a world of difference"," giving the quilt its poignant title.
See more of Mary's quilts in Learn How to Use Cheesecloth for Appliqué with Mary Pal | How to Make a Quilt Sleeve with Ricky Tims.
