Featured Quilt - Two Awards, One Beautiful Quilt

A single picture can capture a lifetime of feelings. Lea McComas is amazing at that process. The Long Goodbye is a quilt that brings a texture and feeling to a special moment showing us a special love. Thank you Lea and congratulations on winning the Superior Threads Master Award for Thread Artistry at the Houston International Quilt Festival in 2019 and Best Wall Quilt at the 2021 Virtual Spring Quilt Festival. Watch the video under the video tab to hear Lea tell the story of the quilt.

Keep Your Quilt's Story Alive - Go Tell It!

The Quilt Show is teaming up with the Quilt Alliance and the International Quilt Museum to collect and share stories about memorial quilts. If you have made a memorial quilt or received one in honor of someone in your life, we would love to have you share your story.

The Quilt Show will select a number of these quilt videos to share via the newsletter in August and September. The Quilt Alliance will also share all videos submitted on the Quilt Alliance’s YouTube channel.

Check out what it's about and watch Alex's Go Tell It! video for inspiration.

The Right Sewing Machine Needle For Every Project

Pick The Right One Every Time

Even if you've planned a quilt down to the T, from the fabric choices, the quilting design, and the binding, there could always be something that you forget to think of. For a lot of people, that just might be the needle with which they are actually going to sew the project. Luckily, BERNINA has the perfect video to show you how to pick the right one!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Push It To The Limit"

"Pushing Boundaries" by Becky Goldsmith

Pushing Boundaries was created when Becky ran out of things to sew. What she wanted to accomplish with this quilt, and wants to revisit in a future one, is the idea that when you make a vine design it normally is carried seamlessly from panel to panel but for this quilt the vines would not meet up perfectly and create an off-kilter look. This fractured nature allowed the quilt to be created square by square instead of having a need to focus on the center.

See more of Becky's quilts in It's the Ultimate Thread Guide with Becky Goldsmith.
