Featured Quilt - Second Place Small Wall Quilts: Stationary Machine Quilted at Paducah 2023

A Look Into The Past by Peg Collins was awarded Second Place in the Small Wall Quilts: Stationary Machine Quilted category (Sponsored by Koala Studios presented by Calico Country Sew & Vac) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023. This gorgeous quilt, as its name implies, provides a small window in what appears to be a log cabin into the maker's past and a lush view of a green field. While this is Peg's intention for the work, quilts are obviously subjective and can be interpreted in many ways. What may be her retrospective look back can be another's glimpse at what this beautiful world has in store for us.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: It's A Blooming Yo-Yo

"Yo-Yo Bloom" by Rachaeldaisy

Yo-Yo Bloom shows off Rachaeldaisy's half-half yo-yos. Having made a few Modern yo-yo quilts before, this half-half technique came about because Rachaeldaisy was at a quilt show admiring a beautiful vintage yo-yo quilt. As she viewed the quilt, some women came by and said that yo-yos were so boring and old-fashioned. She didn't say anything, but in her mind and heart, she felt that it was now her challenge to set out and show that yo-yos can have a really fun, bright side to them, and this quilt was the result. Since then she has made several yo-yo quilts that are bright, happy, and, in her eyes, a bit more contemporary.
