Featured Quilt - How Low Can You Go?
|
|
From time to time to different styles of quilting can coexist together and create quilts that one wouldn't expect, for example, merging the traditional with the Modern aesthetic. This is what Karen Foster did with her quilt, Limbo, which won Best Use of Modern Traditionalism - Mid-Century Mod at the 2021 Virtual Spring Quilt Festival. Karen says of her work, "Limbo is my Lone Round Robin quilt made during the South Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild Virtual Retreat. I took artistic liberty interpreting the prompts for the rounds and elaborated with a "mash up" towards the end using left over project parts and stash to individualize a classic."

"Welcome to the North Pole" by Becky Goldsmith
Welcome to the North Pole is from one of Becky's very first books with That Patchwork Place. Continuously in print since 1997, it is a quilt that people love to put their own spin on and tailor it to their own holiday themes and traditions. As Becky puts it, "Don't you just love the idea of the North Pole! We can see it - festive, happy building full of bustling, busy elves. Make the quilt as it is shown on the cover or mix and match the different blocks on the table runners, wall quilts, garments - whatever works for you."
See more of Becky's quilts in It's the Ultimate Thread Guide with Becky Goldsmith.
