Featured Quilt - Third Place Group Quilts at Paducah 2023
My Lucky Stars won Third Place - Group Quilts (Sponsored by the Grace Company) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023. The group, consisting of Jill Isakson, Linda Neal, and Richard Larson, based the oak leaf border of their quilt on The Anniversary Quilt by Becky Goldsmith from her ebook, Flowering Favorites (2003).
Jill sent photos of their quilt to Becky, who thought it was lovely, and Jill told her all about it. She said, "My Lucky Stars, whose applique border is based on your design from the Anniversary Quilt has received a 3rd place award at AQS Quilt Show in Paducah, KY. I did the fabric selection, overall design and piecing, Linda Neal appliquéd our adaptation of your border design, and Richard Larson did the fabulous quilting. Thank you for your inspiration and beautiful border design. It truly is
the icing on the cake."

"Century Folk Art Basket" by Carolyn Konig
Carolyn says of Century Folk Art
Basket, also known as the 19th Century Folk Art Quilt, "This beautiful quilt was first seen at the International Quilt Show in Houston in 2009, the maker is unknown. The quilt was originally made in England and is an English style design made with many scraps of fabric. The quilt was sold at Christie’s Auction house and now resides in the USA." The quilt was made by Carolyn using a series of photographs she took of the original back in Houston, making it as close to the original as possible with the style of the baskets, the appliqué, the embroidery, and so on, finishing the binding when she returned to America in 2013.
