Featured Quilt - Honorable Mention Hand Quilted Quilts at Paducah 2023

A Story Of The Kokeshi by Megumi Mizuno received an Honorable Mention in the Hand Quilted Quilts (Sponsored by Arrow Sewing) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023. Megumi "has been a student of Yoko Saito for more than 20 years. She loves the appliqué and the traditional Japanese universe, which she interprets with the famous little Japanese dolls, the Kokeshi," which are the inspiration for his hand-quilted marvel.

It's Time To Listen to Lisa's Story

After a brief hiatus, our focus on the Quilters' Save Our Stories (QSOS) program from the Quilt Alliance returns with Lisa Ellis, who was previously a guest of The Quilt Show. In this interview with Karen Musgrave, Lisa discusses many topics including her quilt Miriam's Dance, which she says is "Inspired by the story in Exodus following the parting of the Red Sea when Miriam leads the Hebrew women in a dance of celebration."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: You Won't "Clam" Up Here

"Happy As A Clam" by Rachaeldaisy

Happy As A Clam is one of Rachaeldaisy's many denim quilts. When making one of these denim quilts, Rachaeldaisy usually has traditional shapes in mind, in this case, the clamshell. Each clamshell features a different motif with its own story behind it. She says, "Clamshells are always fun as they are, but when they are embellished with whimsical motifs, cute pictures, friendly fabrics and all sorts of sweet bits and pieces surely they help create the happiest clamshell quilt in the universe."
