Featured Quilt - A Flag for Everyone

For the Fourth of July this year, we thought we would feature a flag that celebrates all of our cultural diversity. Colors Unfurled by Maria Shell was born out of simple idea that she had, "What if she took all the star blocks she’d made over the years and used them to make a new version of the American flag?" A version of the flag that represented not just traditional red-white-and-blue values but pink-purple-and orange values too.

Amanda Murphy Creates Textured Custom Looks
It's Not Always A Straight Path to Where You're Going

Amanda Murphy says quilting designs are more than just straight lines. In our brand new show, she shows Ricky how easy it is to create a textured custom look by combining meanders, loops and other organic elements with straight line ruler work. She also shares tips for marking the quilt top and using machine quilting rulers and templates.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Step Through to a Different City
"Arabesque" by Jenny Bowker

Arabesque is one of many of Jenny's amazing life-like pictorial quilts. We'll let her set the scene, "Every day an old man sets up his tools in a bare and muddy cobblestoned street in the old city of Damascus. He has done this all his life. He mends stools. He is for me, the epitome of Syria. It is a country where people work with their hands, where socks are still darned, and shoes and brooms repaired." Click through to see the amazingly detailed and crafted quilt that Jenny has created.
