Featured Quilt - Tiling Her Way To Victory
More kudos are in order as another TQS member has won another big award (and then some). Betsy Vinegrad's quilt, Azulejos, just won Best of Show at the 2021 Vermont Quilt Festival and also won 2nd Place - American Patchwork and Quilting Wedge Challenge and a Judge’s Choice ribbon at Quiltcon a few months ago. The quilt came about from an improv paper piecing workshop with Amy Friend. As for its name, "When I was done, I thought it looked like ceramic tiles or in Portuguese, Azulejos." Congratulations Betsy!

Ribbon Quilt is the initial result of Sarah's classes with Nancy Crow. Featuring all solids, Sarah says she made it in a fugue state, unable to stop working on it. Piecing the quilt inside of two months while she was working full time, Sarah submitted it to QuiltCon one year and it was rejected. The following year, knowing the quilt was good, she submitted it again and it won the eQuilter Quilting Excellence Award.
Whether you are working with a reliable BERNINA, or the machine you've had since you were a beginning quilter, it is always important to know how to use your machine to get the effect you want. At The Quilt Show, we like to talk about not only how to do a technique the right way, but how to use a sewing machine properly as well.
