Featured Quilt - Here A Log Cabin, There A Log Cabin
If you loved the unusual log cabin quilt that Ricky found from Friday's newsletter, you'll flip for this one! Combining interweaving log cabins which overlap in three dimensions, Miki Murakami has created what she calls a "strange space" with her quilt, Overlapping Log Cabin. Featured as part of the Abstract Large exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Houston 2018, we spent a lot of time in this space trying to figure out how she pieced it all together. We also enjoyed the "exotic" fabrics she used to create the quilt.
How to Free-Motion Quilt Swirl Designs with Amanda Murphy
Free Yourself Up With Free-Motion
Amanda Murphy is showing a number of quick videos highlighting her tips for free-motion quilting swirls at WeAllSew. They give such great texture and movement to a quilt, yet people frequently struggle to find a style that suits them. But once you learn the basic rhythm, there are so many variations that you’ll be sure to find one that you enjoy.
Go Tell It! Interview with TQS Member Dale McMillan
More Quilt Stories Saved
Another of our wonderful TQS members, Dale McMillan, has completed a Go Tell It video to preserve her quilt's story for the "Go Tell It!" Remember Me: Memorial Quilt StoryShare. Take a look as we become even closer as a community through our shared stories.
Lisa Walton (Show 2503), textile artist and past President of SAQA, talks with fellow Australian quilter, Tania Tanti about her quilt, The Beginning, her painted quilts, her inspirations, and so much more. Go down under on a new installment of Quilt Stories.

Created during the pandemic, Julia created The Lone Robin as a fun exercise for the San Francisco Quilt Guild. "It's like a round robin, but it's not going anywhere. You're doing it on your lonesome." Julia says that you challenge yourself because you do something one month not knowing what's coming, causing each month in turn to create something new and exciting for the quilt. The beautiful quilting on Julia's Lone Robin was done by Nancy Williams.
When making a quilt, sometimes you want to experiment and branch out from the norm to create something exciting. One of the ways to do that is by using different fabrics. At The Quilt Show, we have many shows explaining how to work with different materials, such as wool, leather, and silk, like in our new show with Julia McLeod (Show 2902). So if you want to try working with something new to broaden your horizons, there is no better place than The Quilt Show!
