Featured Quilt - "Salt Life" - What Catches Your Eye?
TQS member Eileen Williams has always loved the water. She writes, "By creating under the sea art quilts, I can combine my love of the sea with my with artistic desires, and for me, it is just pure fun! I like to give viewers something to look at that catches the eye right away and then as you begin to explore the quilt, there are more things to discover that are not so obvious. I am not sure which is the most fun; designing the quilt or quilting it. "
Fortunately for us, Eileen has shared a number of details from her quilt which uses Collage and Raw Edge Appliqué. Salt Life was the recipient of the 2019 Crystal Coast Quilters Guild Viewers Choice Award.
In Part 2 of the Understanding a Stitch series you'll learn how machine adjustments will affect your stitch. Then you'll learn about things like tension, stitch plates, and the many possible edit features, which will give you total control of how your stitch looks. Learn how to take control of your machine with BERNINA Educator Debbie Cacciamani.
"In an extraordinary display of history meets art, 26 iconic buildings are brought to life on quilt squares, including the Temple of Kwan Tai, the Presbyterian Church, the MacCallum House, the Mendocino Hotel, and the Kelley House Water Tower. Each building is colorfully quilted onto 18” x 18” squares by members of the Ocean Wave Quilters."
Lisa Walton (Show 2503), textile artist and past President of SAQA, discusses her latest quilt, Knocking on Heaven's Door, and explains how she made it and the inspiration behind it. This quilt was made as part of her work with the international textile group - Cloth in Common. It's all right here on another great installment of Quilt Stories.

Some would say this dish only has half of its thread left, while others would say it has MORE than half. What we're trying to say is if you take a second look at something, you may see it differently than before. Maybe you've already watched all 300+ episodes of The Quilt Show, but if you watch them again you may just learn something you didn't the first time around. You never know what you're going to find!
