Featured Quilt - A Blue Ribbon for A Blue Quilt

Blue Tone II by Aki Sakai took home a First Place Ribbon at Road to California 2023. This is Aki's second quilt in her Blue Tone series. The first, Blue Tone, won the Coats & Clark Best Wall Hand Workmanship award at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2014 and was based on her family memories and favorite flowers.

This second one was inspired by even more cherished memories. She says, "The designs of this quilt are based on my family memories such as 30th wedding anniversary and my favorite things. It took about a year and half to make this."

WeAllSew Tutorial: Modern Love Mini Quilt

Who Do You Love?

It's February on Wednesday, which means we're just two weeks shy of Valentine's Day. That's plenty of time to make this Modern Love Mini Quilt from Erika Mulvenna at WeAllSew. "This mini wall hanging has a retro vibe with an 8-bit graphic lettering style, inspired by Robert Indiana’s famous “LOVE” sculptures." Make it for someone you love, yourself, or as decoration for that party you're going to throw. Whatever the occasion, we just know you'll "LOVE" it when it's done.

Textile Talks: Labeling and Documenting Anonymous Quilts, presented by the Quilt Alliance

Keeping Quilts Alive for the Future

Centuries from now, when our quilts still exist and we'll be gone, we want future generations to know who made these quilts and why they were important to us. In this week's Textile Talk, the Quilt Alliance shines a light on "the conundrum of how to label and document quilts with no name or known provenance" with the Know-It-Alls group of quilt historians, Alden O’Brien, Lynne Bassett, and Julie Silber, along with moderator Meg Cox.

Register today and watch when this episode airs this Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 2 PM EDT.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Take A Quarter Turn to the Left

"Quarter Circle Quilt" by Latifah Saafir

The Quarter Circle quilt block used in this quilt is the cornerstone of many classic quilt patterns. Latifah figured out a way to put those quarter circles together without pins in her own Quarter Circle Quilt.
