Amy Pabst Exhibit: Hundreds of Thousands of Pieces - Very Tiny Quilts
Mighty Miniature Marvels
These quilts are small, but mighty, and made up of hundreds of thousands
of pieces (if you add them all up). Amy Pabst had an exhibit of her micro pieced quilts at Road to California 2023. Here are a few highlights from that exhibit.
AND, if you want to learn more about Amy, we also have a video where Amy walks us through her 2019 exhibit, Log Cabin: 100K, at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. This series of quilts focused on a miniature scale and explored the unlimited layout and design options of the log cabin block. There are a total of 102,779 individual pieces in this exhibit.

Quilters' Save Our Stories with Pauline Salzman
A Vintage Story with Timeless Advice
Pauline Salzman is interviewed this week for the Quilters' Save Our Stories (QSOS) program from the Quilt Alliance, and comes from the Houston Quilt Festival back in 2000. In it, Pauline talks about a wall hanging she made which she'd like to update (wouldn't we like to do that with all of our quilts), and how "a good quilt must tell a story and be technically sound."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Having A "Ripple" Effect
"Ripple" by Maria Shell
As Maria has been making a lot of curves and circles in her
quilts and teaching a class about making a circles and curves sampler, Ripple was born out of her recent exploration into the different shapes. She has moved from the lines and linear shapes of her past quilts to curvy ones, and Ripple features what she calls her braided curve technique. Maria's braided curves begin with a simple curve and then become braided through the magic of quilting.
See more of Maria's quilts in Braided Curves, Lines and Triangles Equal Squares with Maria Shell | For the Love of Quilting with Nancy and Karey.
