Featured Quilt - They Are So Many To Choose From

Paint Chip Love by Emily Parson is her way of showing how paint chips act as a metaphor for change in our lives (and are also super fun to collect as well). Featured at the 2022 Houston International Quilt Festval, she says, "Paint chips...there are so many things to love about them. They are colorful, fun, and free! And if you are collecting paint chips, it is likely that you are making a change...maybe even planning an adventure. I didn't start out using paint chips as a metaphor for life, but they aptly describe my past few years...a new career, almost an empty nester, and a renewed sense of creativity."

Braided Curves Without A Ruler

Our latest show sees Maria Shell sharing a method for creating improvisational curves and braids with a strip set without using a ruler or templates. Along with offering tips for sewing and pressing, she shows how continuing the process of sewing the stack, cutting, shifting and re-sewing can result in unusual and braided designs.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Guiding You Through

"The Lord is My Shepherd" by Kathy K. Wylie

Kathy writes of The Lord is My Shepherd"The design for this quilt originated with the discovery of a block named “Shepherd’s Light”. I developed the shepherd theme by incorporating imagery from the 23rd Psalm." She sees the quilt as a turning point for her, with her moving into appliqué in a serious way after making it. Kathy views it as a transition from quilting as a hobby to quilting as a career. Using paper cut appliqué in the quilt, Kathy found a love for the technique and started to explore different ideas with the paper cut blocks, leading to the publication of her first book called Sewflakes.
