Featured Quilt - A Grand View

Toroweap Overlook by Sandra Mollon was featured at the 2022 Houston International Quilt Festival and is derived from a photo by John Slot of a viewpoint of the Grand Canyon. This beautiful quilt, as with many of Sandra's quilts, is almost indistinguishable from the photograph on which it is was based, however, even Sandra herself considered this to be one of her more challenging quilts.

She says, "When John Slot sent me this photo, with encouragement to use it for an art quilt, I was hesitant. I knew it would be a challenge, with the amount of detail in the rocks and clouds and river, but the Grand Canyon is amazing! It is now one of my favorite pieces. It was raw-edge fused with hand-dyed and commercial batik fabrics, with small amounts of mixed media added."

Learn how Sandra creates these amazing landscape quilts and more by watching her in Learn Dyeing and Appliqué Techniques for Landscape Quilts with Sandra Mollon.

Sarah Fielke Helps You Tame Your Scraps

Conquering Scrap Mountain

Our latest show has our 2023 BOM designer Sarah Fielke showing several ways to maximize your fabric scraps. When sewn together into strip sets the  units allow you to create entirely new quilt blocks, designs, borders and so much more. Plus, Sarah provides a second idea for cutting the units into a triangle that becomes the unifier for all the various fabrics.

Learn from Sarah by watching her in Block of the Month Quilt 2023 Homeward Bound by Sarah Fielke.

Alex Thanks You and Has A Request

Quilters have the kindest and most generous hearts and Alex wants to thank you from the bottom of her heart for the outpouring of love and concern she has received since sharing her breast cancer diagnosis.

She also has a request, because not everyone has such a supportive community, she asks that instead of sending her a card or gift, that you share that card or gift with someone in need in your own hometown.

Places to consider include:

- Retirement Homes
- Boys and Girls Clubs
- Children’s Hospitals
- Homeless Shelters
- School Libraries

Or scroll down below and learn how you can make an infinity scarf for someone undergoing cancer care.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Sunset Over The City

"Sundown Cityscape" by Pam Raby

Based on Tula Pink's City Sampler, Pam Raby created Sundown Cityscape not knowing how she was going to quilt it. Only when she dove headfirst in without a plan did inspiration strike and another fabulous quilt was born.

If you’re looking for something a bit more advanced, you may want to consider a mid-range to high-end model. Most of these guitars are typically made with higher quality materials and come with features such as onboard electronics, pickups, and tuners. They may also have different body styles, such as a strat or a Les Paul. https://theacousticguitar.com/best-mics-for-acoustic-guitar/
