Featured Quilt - Blast Off With This Quilt
The
Grand Tour by Michelle Baker was featured at Road to California 2023 in the Mixed category and it's out of this world! She says about the inspiration for the quilt, "My mom, a computer programmer/rocket scientist, worked on NASA/JPL's Voyager Missions which traveled to the outer planets. This year is the 45th anniversary of the launch and still sending data. Applique/piecing and free motion thread painting is used to recreate this poster which was commissioned by JPL/NASA in the WPA travel poster/art deco style."

A Thank You from Alex and a Story
"First off I have been feeling everyone's love and concern - I mean
REALLY feeling it. I am blessed beyond measure. As for the nuts and bolts, the difference a week makes is indescribable. YAY! Next week I will be meeting with my oncologist to find out what is next. I am not stressed at all because it is out of my body. One step at a time as the story continues."
And speaking of stories, here's one from Alex about Sally Johnson and the inifinity scarves for chemo patients. Sally was going to make a Alex a quilt, but when it was suggested that she make the infinity scarves instead for donation to a cancer center, she took that suggestion to heart.

"Flying Geese Improv" by Sherri Lynn Wood
Sherri had no plans going in when she made her Flying Geese Improv quilt. She began to create Flying Geese, without a ruler or template, in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors to create this impressive work. After making as many different versions of Flying Geese as she could handle, Sherri switched over and began to make tree tops and incorporated more colors than just the browns she started with.
