Featured Quilt - Coloring and Quilting From the Heart
Heart and Soul by Jackie Perry was featured in the Hand Quilted / Hand Made category (Sponsored by Flynn Quilt Frame Company) at the 2023 Houston International Quilt Festival. While you'd think this might be a Valentine's Day inspired quilt, seeing as we're just coming off the holiday and it has "Heart" in its title, it actually draws inspiration from some place you might not expect. Jackie says, "I am inspired by adult coloring books. With the artist's permission, I created Heart and Soul. This is a wholecloth quilt; all the color is from variegated thread. I usually prefer bright colors but chose pastel colors here because the piece has such a delicate look. It is
completely hand quilted and includes ruched flowers, beading, crystals, embroidery, stuffed work, and trapunto. it took 14 months to complete."
