Baby Dragon by Brandy Wood-Iler is an adorable baby quilt that caught our eye at Road to California 2023 as part of the Pieced Wall category. The story of how it all came together is just as precious as the quilt itself. Brandy says, "I began quilting in 2020 and fell in love. With a new grandson on the way I decided to use my new hobby to make him a quilt for his baby shower. I let my first grandson pick out the pattern and boy what a challenge it was but I love the results."

How Can You Make Needle Turn Appliqué Easier?

Here's how it works - Print your appliqué pattern pieces on the precut sheets using your home office printer (or you can trace it if you prefer). Cut out a pattern piece, position it on your fabric, and press it in place with an iron. Cut your appliqué piece out leaving a 1/4 inch border, turn and glue the edge, and stitch in place. Once completed, wash your quilt to make half the fibers dissipate; the remaining half will create a slight loft under your appliqué piece.
