Featured Quilt - Second Place Mixed at Road to California 2022

Hungarian Rhapsody by Margaret Solomon Gunn is an unusual quilt in that it took first and second place at two different quilt shows, but those awards were in two different categories. It won Second Place - Mixed at Road to California 2022 and First Place - Traditional category at PIQF 2021.

Margaret says, "This original design is constructed from bold shades of silk Radiance. The hand appliqué mimics patterns seen in Hungarian crewel embroidery. My hand-guided longarm quilting includes motifs to complete the garden theme. Accents of embroidery, lace, beads & crystals are added."

(And yes, this is a different quilt than Ricky's Hungarian Rhapsody seen in Sunday's Puzzle.)
Make Transparent Quilts with Kerri Green
Quilts That Are Easy On The Eyes (And See-Through Too?)

Kerri Green loves creating the illusion of transparency in her quilts. In our newest show, she shows Alex how changing the value of a color in shapes that overlap can make that area appear to be transparent.

Learn from Kerri, and Lisa Erlandson, in Learn How To Piece Curves and Create Transparency with Kerri Green | Scale in Antique Quilts with Lisa Erlandson.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Atypical For Valentine's Day
"Iris Bed" by Linda Pumphrey

While primarily known for her red and white quilts, and it being Valentine's Day and all, you won't find any red and white fabric in this beautiful quilt from Linda Pumphrey. Linda "modernized" a Mountain Mist pattern and made it her own with her quilt Iris Bed.

See more of Linda's quilts in How to Design Red and White Quilts with Linda Pumphrey.
