Greater than the Sum... by Judith Beaver received an Honorable Mention in the Abstract category at Road to California 2023. Judith made the quilt to show everyone that we are not just defined by one trait, that we are more than the sum of our parts and we are made better because of it.
She says, "Greater than the Sum... reflects my belief that the wonderful diversity of human traits, talents, traditions, and cultures are our strength and should be celebrated. I began working with the color magenta and continued printing a variety of bold colors and unique motifs. Hand embroidery was added to create additional interest. Viewed together, the whole is indeed greater than the sum of its parts. The fabric was printed using Procion Dyes."
