Featured Quilt - Award-Winning Innovative Animal Appliqué

Two things stand out right away when you first see Ann Horton's (Show 2005) award-winning quilt, Woodland Wilds. The first, that the appliqué work and thread painting is amazing. The second, who let a rabbit into this quilt show? No, there were no actual rabbits at the show, but you could have fooled us with how realistic it looked. Ann's quilt recently won First Place in the Animal category at Road to California 2022 and also took home Third Place in the Innovative category at PIQF 2021.

What's On Deck This Week for The Quilt Show?

Kerri Green shares tips for taking a design on paper from pattern to precision piecing. Taking the basic design and adding depth with transparency and the added punch of value changes are techniques she also shares with Alex and Ricky. Then Lisa Erlandson shows how scale changes in antique quilts can make for a big impact.

Watch Kerri and Lisa in Learn How To Piece Curves and Create Transparency with Kerri Green | See A Difference in Scale in Antique Quilts with Lisa Erlandson, when it debuts this Sunday, February 13, 2022!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Heart Full of Love
"Heart Blossoms" by Ricky Tims

Ricky developed this little pattern, Heart Blossoms, as a February challenge a few years back. There are no directions for this design as Ricky wanted you to select a method that speaks to you personally. A few ideas include: needleturn, machine, or fused appliqué, wool felting, or maybe hand or thread painting. It's a little bitty thing, just have fun.

Learn from Ricky by watching him and Alex in How to Do Hand Quilting and How to Do Machine Quilting with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims.
