Featured Quilt - Second Place Appliqué at Houston 2022

Blue Flower by Tamie Hashida won Second Place in the Appliqué category at the 2022 Houston International Quilt Festival. This nature inspired, hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, hand quilted (boy, that's a lot of hand work) quilt was designed by Tamie to have the blue color as its emphasis and spread out throughout the work. She says, "The flowers were designed to move out with many blue fabrics. The origami patterns were reverse appliquéd at the border. I tried to quilt to enhance the flowers."

"Fleur de Feu" by Colette Dumont

Fleur de Feu was made as a precursor to her quilt Fleur de Glace to try out the techniques that would be featured prominently in that larger version of this quilt and see if they would work. As Fleur de Glace was the "ice flower", Fleur de Feu translates to, as one may expect, the "fire flower".
