Weekend Fun - December 3, 2021
Featured Quilt - Second Place Hand Quilting / Handmade at Houston 2021

A quilt's story is sometimes more beautiful than the quilt itself, but in this case both are equally great. Nancy Kearns' quilt, A Walk In the Meadow with Ellen, won Second Place in the Hand Quilting / Handmade category at Houston 2021, and is all about her friendship with the pattern's designer, Ellen Heck.

Nancy says, "When I first met Ellen Heck, I fell in love with her appliqué designs. It took several years for me to collect all of her patterns. In the meantime, I became good friends with Ellen. This quilt will always represent that friendship to me."

What's Happening On The Quilt Show?

The Quilt Show is joined this week by Kumiko Frydl, miniature quilts expert. Go behind the scenes as she shares tips for creating shadow trapunto and micro stippling. Plus, Alex has her own segment this week all about expanding your quilt designs by using stencils as a starting point.

Watch Kumiko and Alex in How to Do Shadow Trapunto and Micro Stippling with Kumiko Frydl | How to Enhance Quilting Stencils with Alex Anderson, when it debuts this Sunday, December 5, 2021!

Dee LIVE: Making The Trees

This happy quilt is easy and fun and will be a part of your holiday tradition from now on. Dee shows ways to make the trees today. This is a "joyful" quilt block and a lot of fun to make. You can use it anywhere - table runner, napkins, name cards (your thoughts here...)

Dee will be LIVE TOMORROW, December 4, 2021 @ 10am PST, 1pm EST, and 6pm London time. All classes are recorded so they can be viewed later.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Fantastic First Bed Quilt
"In Time of Friendship" by Linda Franz

In Time of Friendship was Linda's first bed quilt and was made almost entirely by hand. Hand stitching, hand appliqué, hand piecing, the only time a machine touched it was the first stitching of the binding. It won First Place in the Traditional quilts category in Paducah in 2000, and it is her interpretation of a Dear Jane quilt.
