Featured Quilt - BERNINA Best Sewing Machine Workmanship Award
Lilly of Grayson Highlands by Tina Freudenberger won the BERNINA Best Sewing Machine Workmanship
Award at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival XXXIV.
Tina depicted Lilly, a feral pony at the Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia, with the purpose of selling Lilly’s self portrait to raise money for Rugby Creek Animal Rescue of Mouth of Wilson, VA. She hoped for her to have a larger audience that someone may want to buy her with proceeds going to help these ponies. |

Learn to Love Working with Scraps
As the Stash Bandit, Diane Harris loves to work with scraps. Lots of scraps. Growing up on a farm and becoming involved with 4-H she loved being a
dedicated garment maker, until the need for a baby quilt shifted her focus. A job as an editor with Quiltmaker magazine meant free fabric from a wide variety of collections were there for her to take home to play with. Having a diverse and huge stash of fabrics at her fingertips led her on her journey.

Textile Talks: Magic Hour - The Intersections of Fiber Art and Film
|
|
|
|
Recasting Film as Fabric
Presented by the Surface Design Association and WMQFA: "This presentation features three artists who incorporate film into their fiber art
practices. Nirmal Ra-ja, Jennifer West, and Holly Wong recast film as fabric that can be stitched, layered, or manipulated. The presence of the artist’s hand and an attention to the process of making is felt in each of the artist’s work as they explore the physicality of film and expand the medium conceptually."
Register today and watch when this episode airs this Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 2 PM EDT.

"Late Bloomer" by Camille Roskelley
Late Bloomer is one of Camille's patterns and gets its name from the last flower still blooming near the bottom of the quilt. Featuring blocks sandwiched between strands of ric rac, with the border at the bottom mimicking the shape of the ric rac, Late Bloomer shows off a color palette of some of Camille's favorite colors.
