Featured Quilt - You'll Go Bananas For This Quilt

You might have recently seen that Deborah Hyde won Best of Show at the 2022 QuiltFest in New England with her quilt Persephone (Jenn). Well, now she's won another award at a different show. Her quilt, Monkeys in My Hair (Evie) won the Best Wall Quilt Award at the 2022 AQS QuiltWeek in Grand Rapids.

Look deep into the quilt and see if you can spot all of the details, because it's here where you'll figure out where the quilt got its name.
Deborah says, "Monkeys in My Hair has been my most ambitious project so far. There are 2 monkeys in her hair, but can you count the birds? The butterflies? The Frogs? The dragonflies? Even I have not taken time to add up the bees, flies, and ladybugs!"
The House of Dior - Making of Essence d’Herbier
Delectable Dior Does It Again

"In 2017, to coincide with the NGV’s House of Dior: Seventy years of Haute Couture, two new couture works were commissioned for the fashion and textiles collection with funds donated by the David Richards Bequest and the F&T Supporters Group. Essence d’Herbier was commissioned by the NGV after Katie Somerville, Senior Curator Fashion and Textiles attended Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first Dior Couture show in Paris in January 2017." - NGVMelbourne

He also "describes his evolving philosophy of the intersections among quilts, art, and tradition."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Seeing Through The Light & Dark
"Value" by Blair Stocker

When people would come to Blair's upcycling classes, they would often ask for guidance and direction on how to create a design out of the unrelated fabrics that they brought. This quilt, Value, was the solution to the question her students were asking. The quilt takes little scraps of fabric and divides them up into different values from light to dark, thereby creating order out of the chaos of the mismatched fabrics.
