Featured Quilt - 2nd Place Pictorial Quilts at the 2023 Festival of Quilts Birmingham

Breakfast at Tiffanys by Eleanor Harrison won 2nd Place - Pictorial Quilts at the 2023 Festival of Quilts Birmingham. Featuring the iconic visage of Audrey Hepburn in her star-making turn of the film of the same  name, Eleanor used a pattern and design from Pride and Joy Quilting to create this stunning quilt.

If the style of Eleanor's quilt seems familiar, that's because the design of the quilt comes from Pride and Joy Quilting, the brand and company of Veruschka Zarate, who won the NACQJ Award of Merit for Outstanding Achievement in Quiltmaking at QuiltCon this year for her quilt Joan of Arc. Take a look at Veruschka's quilt and compare and contrast how the facial structures were created between the two quilts. One featuring a historical figure whose image can only be based on paintings and drawings, and the other of one Hollywood's biggest and most photographed stars.

WeAllSew Tutorial: Pin Display Handbag

Keep Your Pins Safe

Pin collecting and trading is a hobby that has taken the world by storm in recent years and we all just love to display the pins we've got. Whether they're on your backpack, coat, or purse, you want to show off your personal flair with your collectibles. But with that display comes the possibility of that pin falling off and being lost too. Not anymore, as Erika Mulvenna at WeAllSew has a Pin Display Handbag for you to prevent that very thing from happening. Display your pins proudly, and keep them safe too, using this "handy" (get it?) display bag tutorial.

For Your Inspiration - A Modern Bridge in Vietnam

The Majestic Golden Bridge in Vietnam

We've heard of providing a helping hand for someone, but the Golden Bridge in Vietnam looks to be doing a lot more than just that. In his research for Modern Bridges to inspire quilters, Captn' John found that some said there was not a real need for this bridge, due to its cost and grand design. But we hope that you can agree with the beauty of the final result that art for its own sake, in this case, is enough.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A 3-Dimensional Floral Quilt

"Oh Dahlias" by Shannon Conley

Oh Dahlias is an abstract interpretation of a Dahlia flower. Shannon loves to grow Dahlias in her garden and loves how their repeating petals are similar to those of repeating quilt blocks or repeating forms in nature. The quilt itself is three Dahlia petals blown up big and made in a real sculptural style. Oh Dahlias is just one of the quilts that Shannon has made where one of the design techniques she employed was cutting lots of little holes throughout that provides an organic shape and texture to the piece.
