Featured Quilt - Best Use of Color Innovative at PIQF 2024

The Meeting Place by Andrea Barrett won Best Use of Color - Innovative at Pacific International Quilt Festival 2024. It's not hard to see why Andrea's quilt won for its use of color as it uses 69 different ones overall. She says, "As a quilter bringing together 69 colors in a glorious mélange to meet and mingle in one quilt was a special treat. This quilt felt like a playground of color with largely improvised piecing and finding "friendly" groupings of blocks to arrange to create the secondary pattern. But joining these together with rows and rows of diagonal and spiral quilting was a task I thought would never end."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Bouncing Baby Quilt

"Rubber Ducky" by Heidi Farmer

Rubber Ducky is a baby quilt made from a pattern that Heidi created using the draw feature in her longarm software. It is an edge-to-edge all over wholecloth quilt, and she took the motif of the ducky and enlarged it to create a focal point for the quilt. The larger ducky is made using minky fabric which also appears on the back of the quilt.
