Featured Quilt - Great Use of Trapunto
Licorice Ribbons III by Sharon L. Schlotzhauer won Best Sewing Machine Workmanship - Modern at PIQF 2017. Sharon made the quilt because of her, and the quilting community's, increased interest in Modern Quilts over the past few years. As she puts it, "I have been intrigued by the beautiful modern quilts over the past year or two. I love the simpler look and negative space. Licorice Ribbons III is the third and largest of a series of predominantly black and white quilts I've made in a modern fashion. Because I usually have some type of dimension in my quilts I chose to trapunto the black and white "ribbons.""

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Work With What You've Got

"Scrappy Chevron Star" by David Sirota
Created from one of the oldest patterns that David teaches, the Scrappy Chevron Star was developed circa 2003-2004. While not the original quilt from that pattern, the original featured no repeating fabrics as it was derived entirely from David's scraps, it is still one of David's popular classes. This version of the quilt was quilted by Elizabeth Swan of Haverhill, Massachusetts.
See more of David's quilts in Learn Paper Piecing with the Maven, David Sirota | Adapting Your Studio For Change with Lilo Bowman.
