Featured Quilt - Best Interpretation of Mid-Century Theme at PIQF 2024
Vacation Rental by AnnMarie Cowley won Best Interpretation of Mid-Century Theme as part of the Mid-Century Mod/Modern Competition at Pacific International Quilt Festival 2024. AnnMarie's quilt evokes the Mid-Century aesthetic to a tee, conjuring up the simplistic yet distinct style that was present in houses built at that time. As for constructing the quilt, she says "I paper pieced sections and inset the sun. It's quilted with my signature seer sucker quilting. The back uses fabric I acquired from our Portland Modern free table and some scrap strips." |

|
|
Turn Those Scraps Into Something Special
SusanClaire Mayfield says shopping from your pre-cut fabric pantry is a great way to build a quilt. She begins our latest show by sharing how to cut and organize "leftover" fabric scraps from other projects into a variety of sizes and shapes. She then shows how fast you can sew together simple blocks using the units from your precut "pantry". Then learn how to combine groups of simple blocks to create different quilt designs.
Learn from SusanClaire by watching Using Scraps, Fussy Cutting Panels, and Creating a “Skitch a Day” with SusanClaire Mayfield. |

Don't Let Your Quilt's Information Be Lost to History
Presented by the Quilt Alliance: "Many makers today do an excellent job of labeling, photographing and writing down the important details of the quilts they make. But often quilts made or received as gifts or purchased are not labeled because less is known about them. Emma Parker and Amy Milne of the Quilt Alliance will introduce you to three quilts with no label at risk of becoming Anonymous. We’ll demonstrate the steps of quilt documentation, from documenting your own process, to an inherited quilt with a rich history, to a mystery quilt."
Register today and watch when this episode airs this Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 2 PM EDT. |

"Trendsetters" by Sheila Christensen
Trendsetters was a mystery quilt created by Sheila in 2019. This quilt was a bit of a challenge even for her more experienced mystery quilters to put together. It contains 18 original block designs in three different sizes. It is made using Sheila's "triangle grid patchwork technique, all pieces are rotary cut and machine pieced using this easy method. There are no y-seams and no paper piecing!" Sheila says that it is "a great project for using up your stash, or breaking into that fat quarter bundle that has been calling to you!"
