Featured Quilt - Reading Can Take You Anywhere

More to Life Than Books
by Susanne Woods and Jessica Kwan was part of the Susanne Woods Exhibit at Quiltcon 2022. Like the other quilts featured in this exhibit, it was pieced by Susanne and then quilted by Jessica. It celebrates Susanne's voracious love of books and reading. Jessica writes, "I pieced the backing using this fantastic library card catalogue stamp fabric and a pieced strip of some extra fabrics from the quilt top. I quilted a simple heart design to emphasize her love for books."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Little Fall of Rain
"White Rain" by Teresa Duryea Wong

Teresa began traveling to Japan in 2014 and has been back every year since. On these trips, she began to collect lots and lots of antique Japanese textiles, like old indigos. She held on to them for so long, afraid to do anything with them, until she finally worked up the courage to cut them up and do something with them, which became her quilt White Rain. The quilt was quilted with a big stab stitch using white Sashiko thread, perhaps that's how the quilt got its name...
