Featured Quilt - Beauty Even in The Darkest of Places
Karlee Porter's (Show 2607) quilt, Disparity, won 1st Place in the Surface Design category at Houston in 2017. The subject matter is not something you might typically find in a quilt. Karlee writes, "This piece is my statement on the idea that beauty can come even from within the darkest of places." We believe that as well, as Karlee's quilt is absolutely beautiful.
David Sirota loves entertaining quilters. But he also loves teaching. Learn his paper piecing technique using Vellum that doesn’t require the need for tearing away paper and his method for creating perfect points using dental floss. Then, TQS Editor Lilo Bowman shares tips and tricks for adapting your studio space due to frequent moves, downsizing, or physical changes with aging.
As you are probably aware, it's the first of the month, which means it's a lot of TQS members favorite day. That's right, it's Block Of Month day! You can now download the pattern for Month 8 of Color My World, where you will be creating the third set of Tall Buildings that will surround your world.
And, of course, Barbara Black has a new video to help you on your way.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Kaleidoscopic Fruit Barrage
"Kaleidoscope Pineapple" by Julia McLeod
Kaleidoscope Pineapple is a lot like Julia's other necktie quilts. It was created entirely with neckties, except for the navy background, but this time she used only striped neckties, which she had been a bit shy of using before because stripes can be challenging. In order to get the kaleidoscope quilt she wanted, she fussy cut and color selected her way through the ties to achieve the effect she desired.
Any skill takes work to become great at it. Quilters don't make a masterpiece quilt their first time out (usually), so they need to take the time to learn their craft. At The Quilt Show, you have all the time you need and all the best teachers at your disposal to help you iron out those rough patches in your quilting repertoire. Become the quilter you always wanted to be, right here at The Quilt Show!
